Fatal car accident on one hundred sixty three
The crimson Ford following the accident on N.C. Hwy 163
A fatal automobile accident occurred on N.C. Hwy one hundred sixty three on Monday, Feb. Two, killing Amanda Lynn Taylor, 37, of Lansing.
According to information released by the N.C. State Highway Patrol, Taylor was driving a crimson Ford north on N.C. Hwy one hundred sixty three with a passenger named John Shatley, of Lansing.
A white Acura being driven by Nathaniel Clarke, 30, of West Jefferson, was traveling south on Hwy one hundred sixty three and moved left of the center line, striking the crimson Ford.
Information from the N.C. State Highway Patrol confirmed Taylor died at the scene, while Shatley was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Shatley was reported as being in serious condition on Feb. Three, but was said to be in fair condition on Feb. 9.
Clarke was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital, and then transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, but was released the same day.
According to the collision report written by Trooper J.D. Brown, charges are pending against Clarke.
The Ashe Mountain Times will update this story as more information becomes available.
