The car flipped onto its roof after it collided with a bus in the early hours of Wednesday morning

A MAN has suffered serious injuries and another five people were wounded when a car flipped onto its roof after a collision with a bus in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after the horrific crash, which left a black car on its roof and the bus gravely bruised on Wells Road in Bristol just before 4am on Wednesday.

It is understood that a man in his 20s had to be cut from the wreckage of the black car involved.

Describing the crash, Avon and Somerset Police said: “A car was in collision with a bus, which caused it to spin over onto its roof.

“One man has suffered serious injuries. Five other people are described as walking wounded. All were inwards the car.”

All six people in the black car were taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary for treatment with one casualty suffering a head injury.

The bus driver was not injured in the shocking crash that happened on the A37 near the junction of the A4174 just before 4am.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said three fire engines had been sent to the scene.

They confirmed that the crash involved the bus and a car, a Vauxhall Corsa.

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We attended with three ambulances, one rapid response vehicle and our Hazardous Area Response Team.”

Authorities have now closed off the road as they clear the scene of debris.

Motorists have been warned to avoid the area with the road expected to be closed for some time.

Bus passengers have been warned that services will be diverted around the scene.

South Western Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
