Alyssa Elsman, of Michigan, was visiting the Big Apple with her family when the speeding car driven by Richard Rojas slammed into them
THIS is the very first photo of an 18-year-old tourist killed when she was mown down with her junior sister by an out-of-control driver in the heart of Times Square.
Alyssa Elsman, of Michigan, was visiting Fresh York with her family, including 13-year-year sister, when the speeding car driven by Richard Rojas, 26, slammed into them.
Almost two dozen others were shockingly injured as he floored it up to West 45th Street just before noon as ems of thousands walked through the world-famous site.
The sisters were struck on the sidewalk inbetween West 42nd and 43rd streets.
Alyssa was pronounced dead at the scene and her junior sister was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Less than an hour before the horrific incident the teenager posted a brief movie to Instagram of a bustling Times Square.
The teenage from Portage, Michigan, was also on vacation with her friend and her mother, her devastated bf Trevor West told The Fresh York Post.
West said that he “knew something horrible happened” when he didn’t receive a text back from his gf who was typically quick to text back.

“She would always text me back as quick as she could and when I didn’t hear from her or her friend I knew something horrible happened,” he said. “I knew something was wrong.”
West, who embarked dating Alyssa six months ago, said she meant “everything to him.”
“She motivated me, loved me, gave me everything I needed that I couldn’t give myself. And now that she’s gone I don’t know how I’m going to pack that void,” he said.
“I don’t know how I’m going to function without her ever again.”
West said that Alyssa had told him she was loving her excursion to the Big Apple, where she has visited before, but that she said she began feeling sick.
“She felt better in Times Square,” West said. “Then I didn’t hear from her.”
Alyssa, was scheduled to come back back to Michigan on Tuesday.
A clip of the moment the car hit crashed into a pole and came to rest at 45th Street and Broadway has since emerged.
Police have named the driver as Rojas, a 26-year-old Bronx resident with two prior DWIs (driving while intoxicated).
The U.S. Navy veteran has been taken in custody.
Two law enforcement officials say he told officers he was hearing voices and expected to die.
Rojas reportedly tested negative for alcohol, but drug tests were still pending.
Police say the 26-year-old Navy veteran was arrested last week after he pointed a knife at a notary and accused the notary of stealing his identity.
One official says Rojas told authorities when arrested previously that he believed he was being followed.
Meantime, Mayor Bill de Blasio visited victims’ families at Bellevue Hospital Thursday afternoon.
“You are going to have to be strong now,” de Blasio was heard telling family members of victims outside the paediatric ward at the hospital.
