The compact ’16 A3 TDI sedan is mostly unchanged compared to the all-new model introduced for 2015, and it uses the EA288 Two.0L I-4 engine with one hundred fifty hp and two hundred thirty six lb-ft of torque (also found in all Volkswagen TDI cars). A rearview camera, parking sensors, heated mirrors, heated washer nozzles, and the aluminum interior package are now standard equipment for all models. There are also additions to standard features on Prestige and Premium Plus trims, switches to option packages, and a fresh Ibis White paint color. Pricing for the A3 TDI starts at $33,200.

The ’16 A6 TDI midsize sedan is mechanically the same as the previous year, with power delivered by a Trio.0L V-6 engine that makes two hundred forty hp and four hundred twenty eight lb-ft of torque while returning up to thirty eight mpg. For 2016, it gets an all-new exterior design for what Audi calls “a more dynamic stance and a greater presence on the road.” In other words, Audi made it look a lot cooler for 2016. The switches include an all-new front fascia with the Audi “Singleframe” grille, fresh front bumper design, LED headlamps, rear end design, LED brake lights, and trapezoidal tailpipes. There are also fresh interior colors, trim inlay material options, and a “Design Selection” Flint Gray interior available. The MMI entertainment/navigation system gets 4G LTE connectivity, and there’s a fresh Stop & Go function for the automatic cruise control. Pricing for the A6 TDI sedan starts at $59,500.

Downright fresh from the ground up, the fullsize ’16 Q7 TDI SUV will be more than seven hundred pounds lighter than the previous model thanks to lots of aluminum parts. The fenders, doors, bondage mask, tailgate, multilink suspension, hollow halfshafts, and forged steering knuckles will all be made of aluminum. The Q7 also lost weight by substituting the transfer case with a quattro limited-slip differential that’s integrated into the transmission. No specifications have been released for the Q7 TDI that will come to the U.S., but we already know Europeans will get two different versions of the Trio.0L V-6 diesel. Across the Atlantic Ocean, the standard Q7 is tuned for spectacle with two hundred seventy two hp and four hundred forty three lb-ft of torque, which is good for a 0-to-60-mph time more than two seconds quicker than the outgoing model. The engine in the Q7 Ultra makes two hundred eighteen hp and three hundred sixty nine lb-ft of torque, which is used to get more than forty one mpg on English roads. Pricing, specifications, and official fuel economy figures for the U.S. model will be released closer to the launch of the Q7 TDI.

There have been rumors about a quad-turbocharged diesel engine possibly coming to these shores, but a representative from BMW confirmed there would be no 7-Series diesels sold in the U.S. for model year 2016.

The Two.0L-powered X3 puny SUV is mostly unchanged for 2016.
